932nd Airlift Wing and 349th train together

The 349th Air Mobility Wing provided a C-17A Globemaster to move 932nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron members during an off station trainer flight. This gave both the C-17 aircrews and local aeromedical personnel a chance to work together while in the air, perfecting their medical skills training. Upon return arrival at Scott Air Force Base on March 14, 2017, the small "patient" is carried carefully off the plane by 932nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron staff. The simulated baby seen here, plays the part of a "patient" during the recent scenario to increase cooperation between air and ground staff, who helped to off load her from the visiting C-17. Wing walking 0300 show time for 932nd Airlift Wing

932nd Airlift Wing maintenance and operations personnel had a very early 0300 showtime to launch a cold mission on March 11, 2017, Scott Air Force Base, near Belleville, Illinois. At left, the commander of the 932nd AW, Col. Jonathan Philebaum, helps his 932nd Maintenance Group to pull the C-40C aircraft chalks, as the maintenance "wing walker" with red lights in hand, watches the clearance edges on the hangar doors. Ready at 0300 show time

It's 28 degrees but the show must go on. 932nd Airlift Wing Maintenance Group and 932nd Operations Group personnel had an early 0300 (3 a.m.) showtime to launch a mission March 11, 2017, Scott Air Force Base, near Belleville, Ill. A light snow was falling during the cold morning, as the crews prepared the plane for takeoff. The 22nd Air Force wing currently flies VIP airlift missions on four of the C-40C aircraft. In addition to the maintainers preparing the plane on the ground, and the pilots flying the aircraft, it takes a special flight attendant to make all in flight service professional for high-level passengers -- to include past customers like the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the First Lady of the United States, the secretary of State, secretary of the Interior, the CIA director and the Speaker of the House, just to name a few -- a top priority at 28,000 feet, while also juggling many other duties. Taking the oath again at 932nd Airlift Wing

The colonel recognized the dedication and contributions of both the chief and his family in a special promotion ceremony held March 5, 2017. Launch and turn

An Air Force Reserve Command C-40C plane makes an approximately ten degree banking turn adjustment after takeoff, just like the Air Force song describes the action, "Off we go into the wild blue yonder, flying high into the sun." This C-40C distinguished visitor aircraft, belonging to the 932nd Airlift Wing at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, took off on another mission "into the blue" recently. Originally, the Air Force song was titled "Army Air Corps". Robert Crawford wrote the lyrics and music during 1938 and then during World War II, the service was renamed "Army Air Force", and the song title changed to agree. In 1947, when the Air Force became a separate service, the song became the "Air Force Song" and is now used in many ceremonies at the 932nd Airlift Wing, such as promotions and retirements. Airmen of the 932nd Airlift Wing helped each other train during the UTA (Unit Training Assembly). Basic life saving skills (BLS) were taught methodically, step by step, with instructors watching during annual Emergency Medical Technician training, inside the 932nd Medical Group. This included proper procedures for patient assessment and trauma treatment in a special class held recently at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. ASTS watches over patient

Aeromedical Staging Squadron (ASTS) Airmen take care of the patient as a team using the "tilt chin" technique. The wing had a chance to tell our readiness story to community leaders recently. Various self aid, buddy care, and chemical protection classes were held February 7, 2017, at the 932nd Airlift Wing. The Air Force Reserve Command members in Illinois kept up to date on their current medical skills, preparing for any situation. A special guest visitor to the Illinois unit, one of the wing's honorary commanders, was the Mayor of Troy, Mr. Allen Adomite (on floor playing the part of the patient). He interacted with 932nd Airlift Wing Airmen like Lt. Col. Edward Hubbell, at left, who was administering simulated first aid, and the instructor Capt.
