Chaplain Williams welcomes Bishop Spencer

932nd Airlift Wing Chaplain (Maj.) Michael Williams greets special guest Bishop Richard Spencer, the Roman Catholic Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Military Services, who visited Scott Air Force Base recently. He hosted a round table with installation chaplains to learn more about ministry needs and opportunities on base. Chaplain Williams represented the Air Force Reserve Citizen Airmen who train on reserve weekends in Illinois. Discussions on December 19, 2019, focused on deployments, resiliency, chapel corps recruitment and retention, as well as ensuring religious freedom for all service members. “I am grateful for the strong relationship that exists between the many different components of the chaplain corps here at Scott. The fact that we had active duty Army and Air Force, as well as Guard and Air Force Reserve representation at this forum is a good example of that coordination,” Chaplain Williams said. Wing honors Tech. Sgt. Anthony C. Campbell, Jr.

Col. Glenn Collins, 932nd Airlift Wing commander, and Col. Lance Turner, 932nd Mission Support Group commander, render a salute during a 10-year commemoration ceremony in honor of Tech. Sgt. Anthony Campbell, fallen 932nd Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, Jan. 12, 2020, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Campbell was killed in action Dec. 15, 2009, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, while serving with the 755th Bravo EOD Flight. "Tech. Sgt. Tony Campbell's passing in 2009 was a tremendous loss for the EOD community, the reverberations of which are still felt today. He died doing what he loved, protecting his nation and his brothers, and he left behind a beautiful legacy that we must never forget. It is our solemn duty to remember Tony, to honor his sacrifice, and to pay tribute to his family. Today's ceremony was our most humble attempt to do just that,” said Maj. Lap three, making the fitness rounds

Airmen of the Air Force Reserve Command in Illinois complete lap three of six recently. These 932nd Airlift Wing Citizen Airmen reservists performed the 1.5 mile run as part of the Air Force fitness assessment November 16, 2019, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. The weather was a bit chilly at 6:30 a.m., but winds were calm and pleasantly warmed up once the sun rose . Reservists from more than 30 states come to train each month at the Illinois C-40C unit known among reserve units as the "Gateway Wing". Preparing to serve others

We are thankful this time of year for volunteers. Various donated toy and food items for the upcoming holidays are ready to be distributed through the 932nd Airlift Wing Family Readiness Office, led by Deb Teague, standing at center. She and unit volunteers offloaded donations on behalf of the Air Force Reserve Command's Illinois unit located at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The toys and food will be given out to reservists in Illinois during the final unit training assembly (UTA) December 7-8. One last recognition coin before retirement

Gen. Maryanne Miller, the commander of Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., made a special coin presentation to Senior Master Sgt. Todd Wadkins at the 932nd Airlift Wing for his consistent hard work and assistance during a recent full spectrum readiness inspection held September 7, 2019. The men and women of AMC, consisting of active duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and civilians, provide airlift, aerial refueling, special air mission, aeromedical evacuation and mobility support. Wadkins worked recently with maintenance and formerly served as the 932nd Airlift Wing's Ground Safety Manager, and is retiring after 30 years of military service to America. "I will miss the people…this place has been my ‘work family’ for a long time. There are so many good people in the 932nd Airlift Wing that I have cried with, laughed with, shared sorrow and joy. I have learned from them, mentored a few and stood in awe at the dedication and work ethic of many," Wadkins said. AMC commander presents coins to top performers

At left, the Command Chief Master Sergeant for Air Mobility Command, Chief Master Sgt. Terrence Greene, assisted Gen. Maryanne Miller, the commander of Air Mobility Command (far right), with a special coin presentation to three Airmen at the 932nd Airlift Wing. These three were recognized as "top performers" for their consistent hard work. They are Airman 1st Class Brad Guberman, 932nd Maintenance Group Plans and Scheduling; Senior Airman Christian Reichl, 932nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron; and Tech Sgt. Jessica Roberts, 932nd Airlift Wing Command Post. AMC’s mission is to provide rapid, global mobility and sustainment for America's armed forces. The command also plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian support at home and around the world. The men and women of AMC, consisting of active duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and civilians, provide airlift, aerial refueling, special air mission, aeromedical evacuation and mobility support. As the Air Component Commander for U.S. Transportation Command, General Miller is responsible for directing global air mobility operations in support of national objectives. Commander of the 932nd Airlift Wing Operations Group, Col. Michael Maloney (standing), spoke to World War II veterans at the 388th Bomb Group reunion held in Fairview Heights, Ill., August 31, 2019. From left, crew members Tom McElherne, Jim Ragland, Jack Vann, Joe Hallam, and Chuck Neff gathered with family and friends to remember their service and those of former comrades who have passed on. The 388th BG was activated December 24, 1942 at Gowan Field just outside of Boise, Idaho. After going to England in the summer of 1943 and helping win the war there, they returned to Sioux Falls Army Air Field, SD and prepared to deploy to the Pacific. When the Pacific war ended, the group was inactivated on August 28, 1945. Maloney represented the Air Force Reserve and thanked each veteran before presenting them a 932nd Operations Group coin. Legacy and leadership noted during farewell

Senior Master Sgt. William Bassett retired from the 932nd Airlift Wing in a ceremony held August 4, 2019 at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He was presented the American flag which he presented to his family, He took a few moments to thank everyone, looked at a list of all the generals he's served under, and touched on the legacy of the 932nd Airlift Wing that he's been a part of since 2005. Thumbs up for saving lives in community

Airmen of the 932nd Airlift Wing are proud to help others in the Saint Louis region and Belleville local community. 1st Lt. Sheri Mason-Rogier, 932nd Mission Support Group executive officer, assisted the American Red Cross as they set up a blood donation center inside the 932nd Airlift Wing auditorium June 13, 2019, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Volunteers from the USO in Saint Louis and nearby towns also came and provided snacks and drinks for donors. Mason had no hesitations to her universally-accepted blood again. Some donors' blood can only go to people of the exact same type, but anyone can use Mason-Rogier's, which makes it even more important. "I started donating back in high school with my dad, and I know my blood can help a wide variety of people since it's the 'universal' type," Mason-Rogier said. Mobile application provides new tool

Maintainers of C-40C aircraft need a variety of physical tools in their toolboxes to work on planes. For keeping up with unit news, Senior Airman Aaron Bowles, 932nd Airlift Wing Maintenance Squadron, shows off his latest hand held tool, the "932nd Airlift Wing Mobile App" on May 1, 2019, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. The 932nd AW application, which can be found on Air Force Connect under both the Apple and Google Play Android stores for phones, has several important functions. Primarily, it takes advantage of an untapped handheld news communication capability with official news, bios, and ush notifications: This allows the commander to send important notifications about last minute weather delays, gate closures, and late breaking news. It offers interesting content: Updated news page stories, video and PA photos can easily be seen at any time, anywhere, which saves money and environment by not printing paper. Category of Events: This feature shows all the base calendars, drill UTA weekends and parade events for 932nd AW members to participate in extra events. Social media integration allows social media accounts to be integrated directly into the app in a user-friendly format. Airmen can access local content by adding their unit as a “Favorite” within the Air Force Connect app. NOTE: Be sure to accept "push notifications" to get those special messages from time to time. The Air Force Connect app and all sub-apps offer a variety of features designed to engage Airmen and reduce reliance on traditional computers to access career and other personnel resources.
