Vice commander walks in another man's shoes at 932nd EOD
Lt. Col. Mark Casto, the new 932nd Airlift Wing vice commander, went out to meet the explosive ordnance disposal troops and learn what they do by donning their heavy duty gear during his first Unit Training Assembly in Illinois. (Pictured next to him are Tech. Sgt. Brock Flint, with helmet, and Airman First Class Chris Priddy, the newest graduate of a ten month EOD technical school. "What a great way -- and amazing privilege -- to get a small sense of what it takes to maneuver in 80 or so pounds of gear while performing such a critical mission. It was pleasantly cool on Sunday; one can quickly imagine it in 120 degree heat on the battlefield and under fire...not nearly so pleasant. What an honor to meet these warriors charged with the protection of our people and assets, embedded with all services by the way, whose "office" is up close and personal with "harm's way", said Colonel Casto.
