Santa makes "nice list" for blood donors

Multiple 932nd Airlift Wing military Airmen and base civilians made a difference by donating their blood inside the 932nd AW headquarters on Dec. 14, 2017, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Hanging out and donating life-saving blood with Santa and Mrs. Claus is Staff Sgt. Kaitlyn Kennedy, 932nd Development and Training Flight Coordinator. She said, "I'm following in my grandma's example. She used to donate blood before she passed away, with more than 26 gallons over her lifetime, and I'm carrying on that legacy." Kennedy has donated over a gallon of blood in less than two years, and with each donation, she knows three lives are saved through the American Red Cross processes. Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood due to accidents, transfusions, and cancer treatments. Approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in America. Community relations in action shares our story

Chapel support team focuses on caring

Chaplain (Lt. Col.) William Thornton shares a smile with fellow chaplain (Capt.) Mike Williams, at the 932nd Airlift Wing headquarters, during a recent 932nd AW Unit Training Assembly at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. The 932nd AW chaplains and chaplain assistants, referred to as Religious Support Teams (RST), have the privilege of focusing on caring for unit members and their families throughout the deployment cycle and beyond. Unit visits and personal engagements are a part of this warrior care. Food donations from cadets help wing

Master Sgt. Randee Clohessy loads up a cart full of donated food to help 932nd Airlift Wing members. An outstanding community of cadets from the O’Fallon and Alton High School JRROTC programs, did food drives for 932nd Airlift Wing Airmen, collecting 3,100 food items for upcoming holidays to be distributed through the family readiness office. Clohessy and other Airmen worked offloading hundreds of pounds of goods on Nov. 2, 2017, on behalf of the unit at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Clohessy, an active duty member helping work executive issues at 932nd AW headquarters, was impressed by the work the cadets and reserve Airmen did. "I was happy to help our reserve counterparts offloading the food. It's wonderful that at such a young age, the cadets show such compassion, caring for military families," she said. Wing formation gives honor to commander

Airmen in formation listens to audible commands as Col. Raymond Smith officially became commander of the 932nd Airlift Wing during a special ceremony on Nov. 5, 2017, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Family, friends, military leaders, and community guests came out to wish him well. The wing comes under 22nd Air Force, and Air Force Reserve Command. It has four groups assigned, with reservists who come in to drill on 932nd AW Unit Training Assembly weekends from more than 30 states. The groups seen here from left to right are: 932nd Operations Group, the 932nd Mission Support Group, the 932nd Medical Group, and the 932nd Maintenance Group. AES trains at 20,000 feet

Airman 1st Class Nathan Boyer listens to instructions as the 932nd Airlift Wing’s Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron flew aboard a busy medical training flight on Sept. 23, 2017. They flew as a team in a C-17 aircraft, provided by the 512th Airlift Wing from Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. After taking off from Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, the crew talked about situations and read through the Air Force Instructions covering medical issues. The C-17 Globemaster III plane has a maximum payload capacity of 170,900 pounds and its maximum gross takeoff weight is 585,000 pounds.
