Mandatory clean up today and turn in on Thursday Published Dec. 15, 2015 By Lt. Col. Stephanie Boehning 932nd Process Manager SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- On Tuesday, 15 December, everyone in the 932 AW that is in the office is asked to stop work, mission permitting, and take time to clean out your files, desk, and work area. You will be sorting through your stuff and eliminating what you don't need; straightening up your area; shining it (cleaning all areas); standardizing your work area (reorganizing it more efficiently) and sustaining your efforts by periodically reviewing your area. Anything you no longer need should be discarded as follows: PAPER -- SHREDDED Do you really need that paper copy? Can you scan it in and save it electronically instead? Is it available somewhere else so you could get it if you really needed it? If it's more than two years old, it's probably not current. Get rid of all that excess paper! We will have shred bins available in the lobbies of our HQ, MDG, MXG, and OG buildings. We will have the shredder truck coming to each building on Wed, so please try to have all paper in the bins by that time. If bins are full, please leave paper in the lobbies by the bins. As the shredder truck empties and shreds a bin, we will load additional paper for shredding. Many thanks to Cheryl Hill for arranging this for us. ITEMS THAT YOU NO LONGER NEED BUT SOMEONE ELSE COULD USE. If you have anything in your work area that you no longer use (such as staplers, three-hole punches, furniture, cabinets, etc), bring it to the 932 Auditorium for our "flea market". On Wed 16 Dec, we will have a flea market. Everyone is invited to walk through these areas and take anything that you can use in your work area on base (items cannot be taken home). Anything left on Thu will be sent to DRMO. This is a "your trash is someone else's treasure" event. COMPUTERS/MONITORS/PRINTERS/KEYBOARDS, ETC. Any computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, etc. will be sent to DRMO through ADPE. You will need to work with SCO to get your ADPE paperwork in order, then you can call Jet Cates at 256-4075 to arrange for an appointment to take these items to DRMO. TRASH Throw it away! Bag it up and take it out to your dumpster or make it available for the cleaning crews to dispose of. FLEA MARKET DAY -- WED 16 DEC Everyone is invited to walk through the 932 AW Auditorium anytime during the day on 16 December. Anyone can take anything on a first-come, first served basis. Anything still in these areas on Thursday, 17 December will be taken to base supply and either made available for others on base or sent to DRMO. We will be sending out reminder notices of this event and provide you with updated location information as we get it. This is a heads up for you to prepare for a MANDATORY CLEAN-UP DAY on 15 Dec. In the Air Force Continuous Process Improvement world, this is referred to as a 5S event because we will be doing the five S's -- Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain. Please let me know if you have any concerns or thoughts on how to make the most of our fifth annual 5-S Clean Up event.
