SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- As we celebrate the 4th of July, I want to thank you and your families for your service. You are extraordinary people doing extraordinary things and you have pledged to defend the ideals our forefathers laid out on July 4, 1776 in the Declaration of Independence. You represent one percent of our nation.
Independence Day is more than a holiday. It is a celebration of the day the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence--the document that separated the American colonies from British rule and led to the creation of a new federal republic. Thanks to the vision of our Founding Fathers and the commitment of the courageous men and women who fought to win American independence, we inherit a legacy of freedom based on the idea that all people possess certain unalienable rights--life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
932nd Airlift Wing is willing to go anywhere in the world to keep this nation safe. We appreciate your service and look forward to the return of our Airmen who are deployed over this holiday.
Col. Biehl, Command Chief Biancur and I are impressed daily by your service, pride and patriotism.
Thank you for all you do; have a fun and safe 4th of July!
