Airman Spotlight: Staff Sgt. Margie Murphy

932nd AW: What inspired, or who inspired you to join the Air Force Reserve?

MM: My Mom. With her working 20+ years at Scott I was able to see where she worked and meet her military friends. That gave me the ability to learn about the military lifestyle.

932nd AW: What is your job title and a brief description?

MM: Health Services Management. At the MDS I don’t handle medical records like a traditional 4A0. My duties are geared more towards making sure our members are ready to deploy. I also deal with customer service tasks such as creating orders, assisting with travel vouchers and attendance schedules.

932nd AW: What is your favorite part of your job?

MM: MDS is the largest medical squadron in the wing with over 100 members so being able to see different faces and interact with interesting people makes my job fun.

932nd AW: Does your job relate to your civilian life, job, hobbies, interests, school?

MM: Not at all. Which is good because I’m not always doing the same thing all the time. I like to switch things up here and there.

932nd AW: Where do you see yourself in the next few years?

MM: I see myself still in the military. Possibly in a different AFSC or civilian career field.

Thank you Staff Sgt. Murphy for sharing yourself with us.
