932nd Civil Engineer Squadron, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning Airmen performed critical annual maintenance on the heating boilers located in building 3651 leading up to the February unit training assembly.

The heat exchanger was removed to clean away debris that collects and reduces the amount of heat transfer that can take place. Carbon buildup, the debris that needs removed, is basically carbon dust and unburned fuel that sticks to the heat exchanger tubes.

After cleaning out the debris with a brush and using an air compressor the unit is then reassembled and ready to be turned back on. Since the building is equipped with two units, the second unit took over providing heat while the first was cleaned and checked.
