VETERAN's DAY PARADE 2006:

Veterans were honored by members of the 932nd Airlift Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, located at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. They marched their huge American flag through the streets of Saint Louis on a cold, blustery November day.

Flags waved and cannons boomed around them as the Air Force Reservist got into position and started the parade. A man from the Wildlife Sanctuary brought his American Eagle over for the wing members to see up close.

As the parade progressed, the wing marched against the wind which was gusting around 25 miles per hour at times, with a windchill of 28.

"I do this parade in honor of my father and his service in the Army," said one Air Force Reservist. "It is cold out here, but it is worth it to see the smiles and cheers of people as we went by, and to know we make a difference."

Members of the 932nd Airlift Wing come from 27 states and a variety of job specialties to participate in drills. They perform 12 core training assemblies per year and additional days where needed.
