Marching down the avenue: Illinois unit honors America's birthday
Reservist volunteers of the 932nd Airlift Wing located at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, gave of their time to think of the history of America's Independence Day, and to consider other military veterans who went before them, those who sometimes gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives. With the St. Louis "Gateway to the West" arch in the background, 932nd AW members and a few retirees joined in a friendly reunion to help the community celebrate America's birthday. After an appearance on live television, they worked together to fold the American flags back into proper position at the end of their parade route. The 932nd Airlift Wing had a great group of enthusiastic volunteers who carried the Air Force Reserve name on their banner and represented the unit in the extremely popular Saint Louis parade, which was televised live on local networks, and beyond, to an estimated three million households. The wing plans to help next in the Veterans Day parade in November also. (U.S. Air Force photo by Lt. Col. Stan Paregien)
