Honing medical skills as joint team

Squadron cooperation in action: The 932nd Airlift Wing was highly engaged managing resources and improving the unit during the September Unit Training Assembly. Here, the 932nd Medical Squadron, Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron and Aeromedical Staging Squadron Airmen work together on first aid skills and C-130 load checks, with observation from U.S. Transportation Command guests. Multiple patient loads of litters were utilized to move people from the woods near the reserve wing, safely on to waiting buses, and then out to the aeromedical crew at the C-130 simulator. The action packed training was designed to lead people and execute any future medical missions, and was held on September 10, 2017, at Scott Air Force Base. The project was spearheaded by Capt. Prepping for the Patriot Warrior mission

At Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, the 932nd Airlift Wing's Operations Group and Maintenance Group prepared early in the morning to fly multiple legs of transportation, and ensure 932nd Medical Group personnel made their arrival times at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. They took off on this C-40 aircraft on August 9, 2017 to reach their final destination, participating in Patriot Warrior. The two week event is an Air Force Reserve training exercise, designed to enhance wartime skills in a deployment-style environment and evaluate the ability of units to deploy mobility airlift and agile combat support capabilities in support of joint theater operations. Helping hands enhance readiness

Airmen of the 932nd Airlift Wing helped each other adjust techniques during a Unit Training Assembly, as they refreshed CPR skills. The letters CPR stand for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and when a person stops breathing, or perhaps their heart stops beating effectively, this lifesaving technique is used to restore oxygenated blood flow to the vital organs quickly. Basic life saving skills (BLS) were taught methodically, step by step, with 932nd AW instructors watching during Emergency Medical Technician training, inside the 932nd Medical Group. ASTS watches over patient

Aeromedical Staging Squadron (ASTS) Airmen take care of the patient as a team using the "tilt chin" technique. The wing had a chance to tell our readiness story to community leaders recently. Various self aid, buddy care, and chemical protection classes were held February 7, 2017, at the 932nd Airlift Wing. The Air Force Reserve Command members in Illinois kept up to date on their current medical skills, preparing for any situation. A special guest visitor to the Illinois unit, one of the wing's honorary commanders, was the Mayor of Troy, Mr. Allen Adomite (on floor playing the part of the patient). 932nd MDG takes care of people while executing mission

Chaplain (Lt. Col.) William Thornton plays the part of a "patient" and is attended to by Lt. Col. James Stenger of the Medical Squadron. Members of the 932nd Airlift Wing participated in a patient movement exercise at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. earlier in the summer. During the exercise, medical teams from the 932nd Medical Squadron and 932nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron worked in a simulated deployed environment to safely transport patients from the hospital to a staging area before loading them onto a C-130 Hercules aircraft.
