SCOTT AFB EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT EXERCISE – SEPT. 21-25

The 375th Air Mobility Wing will be conducting an exercise affecting multiple areas across Scott Air Force Base, Sept 21-25. Various wing services will be impacted due to increased exercise FPCON measures and exercise scenarios. There will be no significant impact to 375th Medical Clinic operations. Please use caution when travelling on-road throughout the installation due to increased emergency vehicle traffic. Travel delays are possible during exercise activities due to blocked roads and re-routing of traffic. The Giant Voice and AtHoc will be used for exercise messages with all announcements preceded and finished with “EXERCISE-EXERCISE-EXERCISE”.

SOCIAL SECURITY TAX WITHHOLDING AFFECTS DOD EMPLOYEE PAYCHECKS

A change in federal employees' [military and civilian] pay status is coming this month where extra money will show up on your LES as part of a COVID relief effort. However, that money may have to be paid back starting in January, so officials caution Airmen to set it aside for now. It will impact Airmen and Space personnel whose monthly rate of basic pay is less than $8,666.66, and civilian employees whose wages are $4,000 or less in any given pay period. This change will happen automatically and individuals may not opt-out of the deferral. People can expect to see increased paychecks from now until the end of the calendar year, but need to be aware the money will be automatically removed from paychecks between January and April of 2021. Individuals are encouraged to manage their finances accordingly and prepare for lower paychecks after January 1.
