Commander of the 932nd Airlift Wing, Col. Jonathan Philebaum, shares a moment of reflection and appreciation with Col. Randall Lanning, commander and instructor at the Mascoutah High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. Both colonels are retiring in the next couple of weeks. Col. Philebaum retires on June 3, and he spoke to the high school students about his career, overcoming adversity, and service to others and the Air Force during an early morning visit, as part of their roll call JROTC meeting. Col. Lanning is retiring this month as the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor for the group of cadets near Scott Air Force Base, and he has worked continuously with many projects involving both units. The 932nd AW formally "adopted" the Mascoutah detachment in April, 2010. This visit on May 10, 2017, marked the final joint outreach project between the two commanders. (U.S. Air Force photo by Lt. Col. Stan Paregien) 932nd Airlift Wing firefighters trained on core special skills particular to their jobs on May 21, 2017, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Airman Rachel Robert sprays water from the nozzle of he water hose connected to a fire truck behind her, in preparation for her fellow firefighters to enter a smoke-filled building while searching for a simulated patient. She ran this check on the system to ensure proper water pressure and availability of the resource in case it was needed to help put out a fire. In the background, other 932nd Civil Engineering Squadron members suit up to take their turns and get the hot, dark, challenging experience. The 932nd Airlift Wing is part of 22nd Air Force, an Air Force Reserve Command unit located near Belleville, Illinois, and citizen airmen come to participate from 37 states. Stephanie Boehning with a special coin recognizing her military years of service to the unit and the nation. Tech. Sgt. Phillip Robbins, is a flight attendant for the 932nd Airlift Wing, flying the blue, white and gold C-40C aircraft at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.. He helps distinguished visitors with loading their heavy luggage ahead of the trip, and spends many hours ahead of each trip to plan each leg of the journey. He additionally prepares meals during the flights. The airplane which is constantly on the go, will be available for a limited time to see during the upcoming Scott Air Force Base Air Show on June 10-11, 2017. (U.S. Air Force photo by Lt. Col.
