Maintainer works with x-ray technology

Master Sgt. David Wolfe helps prepare the 932nd Maintenance Squadron “NDI LAB” Non-Destructive Inspection shop for X-ray inspection. The technology saves time and money finding defects for the 932nd Maintenance Group at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. “We use this whenever we get a part in or a weld certification, we take it and place the item under the x-ray tube head, secure the vault, and snap the picture. Then we’ll take the film plate and run it through the processor so it’ll create an image off of the film plate onto a computer screen. Now we’re better able to interpret an image, whereas before we didn’t have that technology to where we could really highlight what we wanted to see and zoom in on,” Wolfe noted in a demonstration July 13, 2020 at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
