Final flight ends in fun family splashdown

The outgoing commander of the 932nd Airlift Wing, Col. Raymond Smith, Jr., is sprayed with frigid water by his family as he steps off the C-40 aircraft one last time. His last training flight, also known as the "fini flight", occurred Dec. 21, 2018, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. It was a bitterly cold day with temperatures in the 20's, but Smith braved the cold as family and friends gave him special congratulations water treatment as he leaves his current command of the "Gateway Wing". He will take on new opportunities within United States Transportation Command. In his time with the Illinois unit, he also served as the Operations Group commander. The 932nd Airlift Wing is the only Air Force Reserve unit flying the C-40 plane in Illinois. (U.S. Air Force photo by Lt. Col. Stan Paregien)
