Students learn maintenance and flight skills from reserve unit
Staff Sgt. David Schallenberg helps the 932nd Airlift Wing welcome eighth grade Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) students for a visit December 10, 2018, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Schallenberg, a C-40 aircraft maintainer from the 932nd Maintenance Group, speaks to local Mascoutah students about how an airplane engine, wheels, tires, hydraulics and wings work to get a plane off the ground. He manned this informational station as multiple groups of students rotated through his area every 45 minutes at the reserve unit in southern Illinois near Belleville. (U.S. Air Force photo by Lt.
