Sonnenberg retires with "blasts from wing's past"

The men and women of the 932nd Airlift Wing paid special tribute to Master Sgt. Gerald Sonnenberg (second from right) on the occasion of his retirement July 9, 2017, from the United States Air Force Reserve. The event included a Meritorious Service Medal for his recent history office service, culminating a very distinguished 31 year military career, which began in May of 1986. Special guests attending from left to right were the officiating officer, 932nd Chief of Public Affairs, Lt. Col. Stan Paregien; the Chief, Deployment and Distribution Operations Center, United States Transportation Command, Col. Karl Goerke; and the Chief of Staff, United States Transportation Command, Maj. Gen. Jay Flournoy. Both Goerke and Flournoy served as wing commanders at the 932nd Airlift Wing when Sergeant Sonnenberg worked as a writer and photographer in the public affairs office.
