Historian meets living WW II history

At right, the 932nd Airlift Wing commander, Col. Esteban Ramirez, speaks to a full class at the Green Dot Training Course held in the base clinic. Green Dot is a program that prepares organizations to implement a strategy of violence prevention that reduces power-based interpersonal violence, which includes not only sexual violence, but also domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, child abuse, elder abuse, and bullying. The 932nd Airlift Wing course was taught by Capt. Eva Leven and Capt. Rachael Dompke, (standing from left to right), on June 11, 2017, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. They interacted with the audience regarding ways to intervene in challenging situations with realistic options. They informed Airmen of the four steps a bystander can take when an issue arises – recognizing the warning signs; understanding the barriers to intervening; intervening by directing, delegating or distracting; and strengthening the protective factors associated with sexual assault. The 932nd Airlift Wing welcomed Lt. Col. Robert Witzel (center in flight suit) back from his final United States Air Force Reserve Command flight on June 22, 2017, at 1500 hours, on the Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, flight line. A light rainstorm let up just about the time he and other crew members landed the C-40 aircraft. He waved to the crowd and walked down the stairs from the wing's beautiful C-40 for the last time, and thanked everyone for coming out to his historical
With a light drizzle of rain falling, clouds started to part and blue sky peeked through, as Lt. Col. Robert Witzel piloted the C-40 aircraft back from his last flight on June 23, 2017, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Colonel Witzel had previously held a special ceremony during the drill weekend, but this was his actual last day in the cockpit flying. Colonel Witzel retires as the Chief of Tactics, 932nd Operations Support Flight, 73rd Airlift Squadron, under the 932nd Airlift Wing. He is a command pilot with more than 8,500 flying hours in several aircraft including the C-141, the C-9 and finally the C-40C plane belonging to the Illinois wing, which is aligned under 22nd Air Force, and the Air Force Reserve Command. Command Chief Master Sgt. Chad Welch congratulates recruiter Tech Sgt. Sara Seibel, with a special wing coin as she reached her yearly enlistment goal early on June 9, 2017, at the Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. This occurred during the recent air show as Lt. Col. Stan Paregien signed off on the final paperwork for her newest recruit.
