Volunteers of the 932nd Airlift Wing gave of their time to think of other military veterans who went before them in history, and sometimes gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives. 932nd Medical Group First Sergeant Sean Murname (left), and 932nd Director of Staff, Lt. Col. Julie Novy (center), along with former 932nd Honor Guard member, Master Sgt. Karen Ridge, worked together last week to fold the American flag back into its proper position at the end of their parade route and Memorial Day events. The 932nd Airlift Wing had a great group of enthusiastic volunteers who carried the Air Force Reserve Command banner and represented the unit in the Belleville parade. The 932nd Airlift Wing's 932nd Maintenance Group keeps the C-40C aircraft ready to fly by their constant attention to detail. Tech. Sgt. Kenis Wallace, 932nd Maintenance Group C-40 Maintenance Instructor, points to an open area of the engine to explain the parts layout for a visitor on May 8, 2018, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. According to Wallace, "Here at the 932nd Maintenance Group, we provide maintenance training for all of the units that fly the C-40, including active, guard and reserve." This time around the 932nd Airlift Wing had five flying crew chiefs from the 15th AMXS at Hickam Air Force Base, and four from the 89th MXG located at Andrews Air Force Base. "What we were doing was our Flying Crew Chief specialty course, during which we spend two weeks providing advanced training for Active Duty Flying Crew Chiefs. We provide training on scenarios and troubleshooting that may happen when they're out with an aircraft on the road (traveling)," said Wallace. While a recent FOD (foreign object damage) walk was going on, 932nd MXG members were training their visiting guests on opening engine fan cowls and thrust reversers. "With the engines opened we trained component location and identification on the core of the engine," said Wallace. He pays attention to detail every day in all conditions, no matter if it is the coldest day in the winter, or hottest day in summer, and enjoys his work at Scott Air Force Base. "As far as what I love about my job, it is the people. Maintainers work hard and play hard even when its hot and 100 degrees out and everyone is trying to get the job done, at the end of the day everyone is like your family and you can always have a laugh," Wallace added. A C-130 from the 910th Airlift Wing takes off from Scott Air Force Base with a reserve crew of 932nd Airlift Wing Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron members. They worked together with ground crew several hours prior to take off, loading medical equipment and preparing to fly with "simulated patients" during a training flight, May 19-20, 2018 at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The AES trained alongside fellow nurses and medical technicians on a multi day flight aboard the C-130 aircraft, visiting from the 910th Airlift Wing of Youngstown, Ohio. We had a special guest visit Illinois recently as Col. Harold Linnean, AFRC Recruiting Services Commander, stopped by and met with the recruiting team at the 932nd Airlift Wing, and performed the oath of enlistment for several new Airmen at the C-40 aircraft.
