Brotherly cake for friend's retirement
Lt. Col. Paul Kowalczyk, 932nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, brought a special multi-layered cake to the base for the retirement ceremony of Chief Master Sgt. Jose Tamayo, one made sweeter because it was produced by the colonel's brother, Christopher Kowalcyzk, five hours away near Chicago at Central Continental Bakery, technically in Mount Prospect. Like many in the unit saying farewell to Chief Tamayo, it was bittersweet for Colonel Kowalczyk because of all the great times they had spent together over the year in the 932nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. The hardest part was driving down from Chicago area with this beautiful cake and not hitting any potholes, laughed Kowalczyk. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Christopher Parr)
