Step off...932nd Airlift Wing firefighter prepares to enter "smoke"

Air Force Reservists from the 932nd Airlift Wing constantly practice to stay ready. Here, a firefighter gets his fire retardant suit on and steps off the fire truck, as he prepares to enter simulated smoke during a recent drill; this is designed to teach firefighters to understand how their field of vision and awareness of surroundings is affected by thick smoke. Heat can be a problem especially when wearing the heavy gear. 932nd Airlift Wing firefighters are continously studying and training. Interested in the Air Force Reserve Command firefighting program?
