"Echo Taps Worldwide" honors fallen on Armed Forces Day
Kevin Ritton, a Civil War reenactment performer with the 79th New York Volunteer Infantry, plays "Taps" May 19 behind the headstone of Pvt. Charles Veale, a Civil War soldier with Company D, 4th U.S. Colored Troops who received the Medal of Honor for his acts of heroism at Cahpins Farm, Va., Sept. 29, 1864. Earlier, Mr. Ritton and seven other musicians played "Taps" as part of "Echo Taps Worldwide," which featured buglers and trumpeters performing simultaneously at veterans' cemeteries worldwide in observance of Armed Forces Day.
