Schallenberg serves as goodwill ambassador

Citizen Airman Staff Sgt. David Schallenberg stands near a C-40 strut as he helps the 932nd Airlift Wing foster goodwill while speaking to eighth grade Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) students. They arrived for a visit December 10, 2018, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, and Schallenberg, a C-40 aircraft maintainer from the 932nd Maintenance Group, talked to local Mascoutah students about how an airplane engine, wheels, tires, hydraulics, struts and wings work to get a plane off the ground and return safely. He manned an informational station as multiple groups of students rotated through his area every 45 minutes at the Air Force Reserve Command unit in southern Illinois near Belleville.
