Prepping the patients

Airmen of the 932nd Airlift Wing helped each other train with mannequin patients during the Unit Training Assembly at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Basic life saving skills were taught methodically, step by step, with instructors watching during Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training, inside the 932nd Medical Group building. This included proper procedures for patient assessment and trauma treatment in a special class held at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Robot helps medical realism

Lt. Col. David Nowak, the 932nd Medical Group's Assistant Chief Nurse of Critical Care, explains the function of the robotic "patient" to one of his Airmen at the 932nd Airlift Wing. One of the greatest advantages of computers and robotic technology is having the opportunity to try something medically in the "virtual world" before finalizing it in the real world. 932nd Medical Group members at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., practiced their lifesaving skills on a "Sim-man" or simulation man robotic patient, in the 932nd Medical Group building during a drill weekend April 1, 2017. The robot talks, has a pulse, and reacts to the treatment through a computer connection.
