932nd Airlift Wing Members Participate in Leadership Development Course

Members of the 932nd Airlift Wing began a two-week Non-Comissioned Officers Leadership Course (NCOLC) this week at Scott Air Force Base. Members attending the class were put into groups, given specific materials and were told to construct an apparatus that could transport an egg safely, and then test the device by dropping it from various heights. The purpose of the exercise was to show the class how to affectively work in teams. Members attending the class were instructed Senior Master Sgt. Martin Walker, the Program Manager for Air Force Reserve Command, facilitated the course and stated, "It's important because we need to have prepared leaders to take on the next mission and this class provides that leadership training." Historical day for new Aircraft Maintenance Squadron activation at 932nd MXG

(RIGHT) Lt. Col. Clifford Waller assumes command of the 932nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron from Col. James McDonnell (LEFT), commander of the 932nd Maintenance Group. This historic day took over five years in making, due to an Air Force Instruction that stated, you cannot have a group unless you have two subordinate units underneath it. Col. McDonnell was proud of his Airmen and had this to say about the ceremony: “The history of this unit was associated with the 375th maintenance group originally. We were never really structured right, within the Air Force Reserve Command. Now with the inactivation of the Maintenance Operations Flight, the command has activated this new squadron, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and we are really happy about that," said Col. McDonnell. Let it snow at the 932nd Airlift Wing!

The first big snowstorm of the season caused delayed reporting at the 932nd Airlift Wing today. In accordance with Scott Air Force Base Instruction 90-101, Severe Weather Operations, "The purpose for delayed reporting during hazardous weather conditions is to allow base personnel additional time for safe travel to the base. Delayed reporting applies to military and civilian personnel; leave will not be charged." The commander has recently clarified that delayed reporting is just that ... delayed reporting. Please allow time for the roads and parking areas to be cleared. Members are not expected to be at work until the delayed report time. The base commander will determine the delay conditions. Information about future base operating procedures in the event of inclement weather will be released through the public website, the Straight Talk Line at 256-SAFB (7232), the Scott AFB Facebook page (which is a direct link off of www.scott.af.mil), and base-wide e-mails (for early release only).
