SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Airman Spotlight: SrA Giovanna Chavez,
932nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron technician.
932nd AW: What inspired, or who inspired you to join the Air Force Reserve?
GC: My dad served 20 years active duty Air force and I wanted to continue the tradition of service to my country.
932nd AW: What is your job title and a brief description?
GC: I’m an Aeromedical Evacuation Technician. My job is to help monitor the safety and security of patients during in-flight or ground operations. I also assist in operating specialized aircraft equipment that directly correlate to patient care.
932nd AW: What is your favorite part of your job?
GC: As much as I love patient care I’d have to say the flying and traveling are my favorite part of my job
932nd AW: Does your job relate to your civilian life, job, hobbies, interests, school?
GC: My job helps fuel my love of travel and excitement. I’m a big adventurer so being able to travel and meet new people is a huge part of why I love being AE. My civilian job is on base as an Oral surgery technician at the 375th Dental Squadron. Being able to start IVs, monitor sedated patients, assist surgeons in clinic and the OR helps me maintain my skills as an AE technician.
932nd AW: Where do you see yourself in the next few years?
GC: In the next few years I hope to be able to get accepted into dental school and hopefully commission as an Air force general dentist.
