Chief Master Sgt. Gary S. Cochran, 932nd Civil Engineer Squadron, Fire and Emergency Services Flight fire chief, formally retired from the Air Force Reserve during a ceremony held at Scott AFB Hangar 1 on December 8, 2024.

During his 26 distinguished years of service in the Air Force Reserve, he completed six overseas deployments to Southwest Asia, serving in a breadth of leadership roles that led to mission success.

Maj. Jeremy Vaughan, 932nd Civil Engineer Squadron commander and retirement ceremony presiding officer, spoke about Cochran’s dedication to service.

“Chief Cochran started his career right here at Scott AFB in 1998 at the 932nd Airlift Wing Mission Support Group Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Emergency Services Flight,” said Vaughan.  “He served his entire reserve commitment right here at this wing. That is a legacy of service.”

The ceremony was an opportunity for Cochran’s family, friends, and fellow Airmen to celebrate his career and usher him into the next chapter of his retirement.
