SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- During the 932nd Airlift Wing October unit training assembly, Col, Dori L. Mansur took command of the 932nd Mission Support group. Col. Jeffrey Smith, 932nd AW commander, presented Mansur with the 932nd MSG guidon during the Assumption of Command ceremony held Oct. 14th, 2023 at the 932nd AW headquarters building, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
“I am so proud to be joining the 932 AW and leading a diverse team of talented Airmen in the Mission Support Group," said Mansur. "I’ve always looked up to group commanders and the pivotal role they can play, and pray that I do justice to the job and the Airmen of the 932 MSG.”
An assumption of command is a military tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility for a unit to a commanding officer.
Col. Mansur shared her priorities as she steps into this new role as the MSG commander.
My priorities are simple: Mission and People. For the reserve team, mission = training. Training to do our job in the new world of peer-to-peer fight; being ready to deploy as a multi-capable Airman; preparing for agile combat and digital warfare. Taking care of people = my job, to enable and develop Airmen’s capabilities. Mentor them, support them, remove obstacles, build trust, model respect. Everyone should want to come to drill weekend (especially since we really have the best deal in the military – to be able to serve while maintaining our civilian careers). I care about mental health, family, and the resiliency of both. We depend on family support, so it’s also important that our families are also prepared for deployments. Everyone (Airman and families) should feel valued by the wing.
