Master Sgt. Chris Morlan won the 2005 Air Force
Reserve Command Career Assistance Advisor
of the Year competition.

WHY IS THIS CAREER ASSISTANCE ADVISOR DESERVING OF THIS
AWARD? There are many reasons:

Described as a self-less patriot whose self-motivation and
determination far exceed those of his peers, his dedication
assisting wing members in advancing their careers is inspiring
to others, and his proven record of increasing the wing's
retention rate is indisputable.

He was cited as one who transformed the Career Assistance
Advisor (CAA) function into a model program and has
made a major impact on the careers of hundreds of airmen;
he greatly assisted preserving our valuable resource--people
Sergeant Morlan was described as innovative--He constructed
the Career Assistance Advisor "Duties and Responsibilities
Handbook" and the "Referral Guide" for all unit
Career Assistance Advisors which is an excellent tool. Working
with Col. Roger Wujek and Master Sgt. David Noesen,
he developed a retention survey to help resolve issues locally.
Currently, the Wing retention rate is at an all time high;
at over 98 percent with 101 reenlistments, 29 extensions with
minimal losses, keeping the wing structure rock solid during
extremely high tempo with exercises, the Operational Readiness
Inspection, and many deployments happening.

Superlative performance and positive attitude made Master
Sgt. Morlan the obvious choice to brief all incoming personnel
at the Newcomers Flight; this led to a positive response.
He implemented the presentation of reenlistment coins
to four and six year enlistees; extremely well received.
He has been elected by his peers for the position of Vice
President of the 932nd AW Top Three organization.
He was a Unit Deployment Manager for the Operational
Readiness Inspection receiving an overall "Excellent rating."
Noted as an Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) advocate,
he presents AFSA coins to quarterly award winners
at wing commander calls.

Handpicked by the squadron commander to carry the guidon
during recent wing change of command, he also marched
the American Flag in the Veteran's Day and 4th of July parades
in St. Louis.

Described as a total Citizen Airman he maintains an active
participation with "Big Brothers" and is a true role model
for young men to look up to. He has Raised money with a
bowl-a-thon to boost morale of the children and help pay for
field trips and served meals at the homeless shelter in his
hometown during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

He is career-minded and completed the Senior Noncommissioned
Officer Academy (SNCOA) in-residence and remains
focused on his future; he completed one year of college,
and will shortly have his CCAF degree in human resources.
He also volunteered to paint a local high school in
Montgomery, Ala., during is off time.

He assisted the Top Three by helping run the concessions
booths for Oktoberfest and the airshow and picked-up
trash on the highway for the Top Three Adopt-A-Highway
program. A big Chicago sports fan, he competed in the first
annual "Top Three versus Rising Six" softball game and
coached the coed intramural softball team to promote Team
Scott esprit de corps.

His bowling teams won the Rising Six and Top Three
bowling tournaments for the wing and he organized fund raising
events for a terminally ill co-worker and raised over $3,000
for a vacation for him and his wife.

Most recently he was chosen to attend the Human Resources Development Council
event in Colorado.
