Charles Taylor awards given out Published Jan. 31, 2007 By Master Sgt. Steve Zeiger 932nd Maintenance Group Scott AFB, Ill. -- On Saturday of a recent unit assembly, the 932nd Maintenance Group held it's first annual Charles Taylor awards ceremony honoring it's members with outstanding performance. The maintenance commander, Lt. Col. Kirk Peddicord, added that the winners were nominated by their peers, and that "it really says something about an organization when the peers recognize their brethren". An environment that is healthy to work in where people look for the good in each other and support people who are struggling is the environment the maintenance organization is fostering. These awards are testimony to the support and professionalism the personnel have for each other. The winners of the awards are as follows: Airman Category - Senior Airman Daniel Johnson Noncommissioned Officer - Master Sgt. Jeff Craig Senior Noncommissioned - Senior Master Sgt. William Treakle The top award was for the Charles Taylor Award. This award recognizes the Maintenance Group for their hard work and dedication to the United States Air Force Reserve. The award is named for Charles Taylor. Mr. Taylor was inducted into the aviation hall of fame as the first airplane mechanic. He started working for the Wright brothers in 1901 and with the machinery that was in the shop he succeeded in building the first airplane engine in a six week time period. He also helped develop the engine for the first military plane in 1907. The winner of the Charles Taylor award is Tech. Sgt. Keith Winter!
