The 932nd Airlift Wing can add another jewel to its trove of awards and
accomplishments. Air Force Reserve Command officials announced that
the 932nd Airlift Wing has been selected as a winner of the 2006 Air
Force Outstanding Unit Award.

Col. Maryanne Miller, 932nd AW commander, said everyone in the entire unit can
take great pride in this honor.

"This award is highly competitive and only given to truly outstanding units. Thank
you for all your hard work, skill and professionalism during the past year." The last
time the 932nd received the AFOUA was in 1994.

The past year was a challenging one for the 932nd,
particularly for maintenance and operations units.

The 932nd Airlift Wing continued to
fulfill all its training and deployment requirements
while flying the C-9C and carrying
out its new distinguished visitor
(DV) airlift mission.

For the Operations Group, they took
hold of their new mission and progressed.
The 932nd's men and women faced a
slew of tests from Sept. 1, 2005 through
Sept. 30, 2006.

Among those included undergoing
several OREs and an ORI which
resulted in an excellent rating.
A new unit, the 932nd Operations
Support Flight, has been in high gear since
it was formed just over a year ago.

The OSF, despite lacking funding and infrastructure,
supported 14 DV missions
flown by pilots of the 73rd Airlift Squadron.
The OSF plans, executes and follows
its own missions.

The 932nd also provided worldclass
support to five First Lady missions,
several congressional delegations
and flying foreign diplomats and
officials.

The 12th Operations Weather
Flight, while just two-thirds manned
and in conversion, provided quality
training and support to active duty.
This included filling lead positions and
lead forecaster for a 22-state region.

The 932nd Aerospace Evacuation
Squadron adapted to new universal
standards and qualified 45
crewmembers on five different
aircraft. The AES was named the Best
C-130 squadron by the Military Surgeons
of the United States.

"Congratulations 932nd Airlift
Wing. We are the proud recipients of
the AFRC 2006 Air Force Outstanding
Unit Award," said Col. Miller.

"It was well earned and much deserved."
Reservists assigned to the 932nd
AW during the award period are eligible
to wear the award.

People who have remained
with the unit should have their
records automatically updated by their
military personnel flight. Former unit
members should check with their MPF
to ensure they have correct records.
