Maj. Joanne McDougal is patient movement
Clinical Coordinator for the Global Patient
Movement Requirements Center at U.S.
Transportation Command.

She is also a flight nurse for the
932nd Medical Group, part of the Air Force
Reserve Command's wing at Scott Air Force Base.

Recently, she participated in a joint U.S. and Tunisian
exercise called MEDLITE '07.

"Participation in this exercise is historic as this is the only
JCS exercise that was conducted in Tunisia this year," said
Major McDougal.

"This exercise provides the U.S. with the
opportunity to forge a long term working relationship with the
Tunisian Military Health Care system. As such, we were
'Medical Ambassadors' working with our Tunisian counterparts
at all levels."

Major McDougal went there representing the 932nd
Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron as a flight nurse, and she
also represented GPMRC, instructing the Tunisian Military
Medical personnel on patient regulating.

"It was an enlightening experience as an instructor, be-
cause I felt the Tunisians were more colleagues
than students as we learned from
each other," she said.

"Of special interest and excitement
to me was working (as part of this exercise)
in their mobile medical unit.

"This is something that we don't always
have. That was a great learning experience,"
she added.
