Changing command at the 932nd Airlift Wing in Illinois

Distinguished guests, family members and hundreds of members of the 932nd Airlift Wing witnessed the Reserve Wing's change of command Saturday, Nov. 14 at Scott AFB, Ill.

The group bid farewell to Col. John C. Flournoy, Jr. after nearly two years as the commander. He heads for the 349th Air Mobility Wing at Travis AFB, Calif., to take command there from Brig. Gen. Maryanne Miller.

Assuming command of the 932nd Airlift Wing is Col. William H. Edwards, Jr. Colonel Edwards comes to Scott from the 440th Airlift Wing where he was the vice commander of the C-130 unit at Pope AFB, N.C. The 440th's mission is to maintain operational readiness for the airlift of tactical and airborne units, personnel, and equipment into prepared or unprepared areas by landing or airdrop. Colonel Edwards is a command pilot with more than 4,300 flight hours.

The mission of the 932nd Airlift Wing is to provide first-class, worldwide, safe, and reliable airlift for distinguished visitors and their staffs on the wing's C-9C and C-40C aircraft for VIP special assignment missions.

The wing reports to 4th Air Force at March Air Reserve Base, Calif. Officiating at the ceremony was Brig. Gen. Eric W. Crabtree, commander of Air Force Reserve Command's 4th Air Force.
