The Air Force Sergeants Association Inaugural Veteran's Day Vigil Run took place Nov. 5-6, at the James Gym Track. The event began with a memorial ceremony following a 1700 retreat on Saturday Nov. 5 and the lighting of the vigil candle.
Following the candle lighting,  the first in a series of runners carried the American Flag while running around the track. The candle remained lit for the following 24 hours in memory of veterans past and present.  As long as the candle burned, there was a runner bearing the U.S. flag.
After retreat on Nov. 6, there was a brief ending ceremony that coincided with the extinguishing of the vigil candle and the final runner halting.
The 24-hour event also paid tribute to Tech. Sgt. Anthony Campbell, a 932nd Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician who died in the line of duty.  Special guest speaker was Col. William Edwards, 932nd Airlift Wing commander.
