SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The 932nd Airlift Wing welcomes a new commander during an assumption of command May 5, 2019 at Hanger 1, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
The presiding officer for the ceremony was Maj. Gen. Craig La Fave, 22nd Air Force commander, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia. La Fave thanked Col. Glenn Collins for responding to the call of duty and assuming command. La Fave ended with giving Collins and all other commanders’ three charges.
La Fave said the first charge is to work hard for the Airmen. The second is to take care of the Airmen and their families, so that they will take care of the mission. The third charge was don’t embarrass the patch.
Collins received his commission in 1988 while attending Boston College Law School. After 11 years of active duty Collins he transferred to the Air Force Reserve. Collins has served in multiple contingency operations, to include Operations: Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Joint Enterprise and Coroner Oak.
Collins previously served as the Assistant Deputy Director of Operations and Nuclear Integration for Air Mobility Command before assuming command of the 932nd AW.
While a Citizen Airman, Collins maintained a private law practice with an emphasis in aviation litigation. He also served as the aviation analyst for a major television network in Chicago, Illinois, and is on the board of directors for several philanthropic, civic, and business organizations.
“How lucky am I to be able to serve… with the finest Airmen the world has ever produced,” said Collins.
The 932nd AW is comprised of over 1,100 Citizen Airmen who support the national interests providing distinguished visitor airlift, ground and aeromedical patient care and expeditionary combat support. Our military cannot operate successfully without Reserve Citizen Airmen.
Collins said he will work tirelessly every moment of everyday to the best of his abilities to ensure all the 932nd Citizen Airmen have the resources and training necessary to go throughout the world to perform the missions that the nation has called upon them to do.
“You think you can’t make a difference? I stand before you today telling you, you make a difference. Every person in this room makes a difference. Never underestimate the influence you will have on someone,” said Collins. “The influence you had yesterday. The influence you have today and the influence you will have tomorrow.”
