Launch and turn

An Air Force Reserve Command C-40C plane makes an approximately ten degree banking turn adjustment after takeoff, just like the Air Force song describes the action, "Off we go into the wild blue yonder, flying high into the sun." This C-40C distinguished visitor aircraft, belonging to the 932nd Airlift Wing at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, took off on another mission "into the blue" recently. Originally, the Air Force song was titled "Army Air Corps". Robert Crawford wrote the lyrics and music during 1938 and then during World War II, the service was renamed "Army Air Force", and the song title changed to agree. In 1947, when the Air Force became a separate service, the song became the "Air Force Song" and is now used in many ceremonies at the 932nd Airlift Wing, such as promotions and retirements. Maintainers take care of C-40C launch preparation

Executing the mission: 932nd Airlift Wing's Maintenance Group (MXG), is responsible for leading people who are always training and equipping Airmen to inspect, maintain and repair Air Force Reserve Command C-40C planes at Scott Air Force Base. The 932nd MXG's management of resources improves the wing's professionalism and enables the 932nd Operations Group's C-40C aircraft to fly distinguished visitor (DV) airlift around the world where needed by the nation's leaders. Life saving taught at wing

Airmen of the 932nd Airlift Wing helped each other train during Unit Training Assembly. Basic life saving skills (BLS) were taught during annual Emergency Medical Technician training, inside the 932nd Medical Group. This included proper procedures for patient assessment and trauma treatment in a special class held January 7, 2017, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Commendation for a job done safely

Commander of the 932nd Airlift Wing, Col. Jonathan Philebaum, presented an Air Force Commendation Medal to Tech. Sgt. Anthony McKee in the unit's safety office. He was noted for his work evaluating 600 facilities for fall protection needs. He provided all the training and the program served as a benchmark for the host unit. McKee also reclassified 860 confined spaces by updating the Base Master List, which was a compliance-driven timeline, and did it two months early. He resolved 40 issues and interpreted OSHA guidance reduced response time to users by 22 percent. Security

Men and women from the 932nd Airlift Wing Security Forces Squadron took time to load up vehicles, weapons, and assorted protective gear and head to the woods during a busy reserve weekend, and then went through hot weather training with hand guns and rifles.
