Balad Chapel volunteer
Joint Base Balad-- Tech. Sgt. Craig James, deployed from the 932nd Operations Support Squadron, volunteers three times a week at Troy’s Place. Troy’s Place is a chapel annex named for Maj. Troy Gilbert who was killed in OIF. The annex has hygiene products, snacks, books, and computers for e-mail, Sergeant James meets and greets everyone that comes in for coffee or whatever. "Sometime they come in just to talk or vent. Makes me feel good to be there for them," he said. Sergeant James is currently assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron at Balad.
