New resource for your psychological health
Yolanda Gunzel is the newest addition the 932nd Airlift Wing staff as the Wing Director of Psychological Health Services. She is a prior service member of United States Navy; she served nine years as a Seaman as a helicopter mechanic, communication radioman, and a Paralegal. She then worked on the staff at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, as a therapist and instructor for the medical staff. Then she went on to private practice for several years before coming here to Scott Air Force Base. She has a master's degree in social work. Her focus is to educate members and decrease the stigma of mental health. She will offer counseling, life skills, classes and workshops. She is here full time, and can talk with individual members, their families, and individual units on base. If you are in the local area you can come in any time during the week. She had this to say about her new position, "I am very excited, I grew up in a military family. I always knew I wanted to work with military members and veterans, and continue to give back, and that this would be my ultimate path at some point." (U.S. Air Force Photo/ Staff Sgt. Amber Hodges)
