932nd Airlift Wing firefighter listens to handheld radio
932nd Airlift Wing firefighters prepare to stay ready. Here, a firefighter in the cab of the fire truck listens to the radio as other units respond to assist during a drill. He gets his fire retardant suit on as he prepares to enter simulated smoke; this is designed to teach firefighters to understand how their field of vision and awareness of surroundings is affected by thick smoke. Heat can be a problem especially when wearing the heavy gear. 932nd Airlift Wing firefighters constantly practice to stay ready. Interested in the Air Force Reserve Command firefighting program?
