Thumbs up! Members of the 932nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron recently accomplished training in the air by heading southeast to Nashville, Tenn. Airlift was provided courtesy of a C-130 from the 908th Airlift Wing at Maxwell, Ala. The purpose was to help them get additional training in their skill areas and to show civilian first responders some techniques that were used during Hurricane Katrina relief, which many of the Reservists were involved in. Approximately 100 responders met out at the Nashville airport with the AES coordinators to see and feel the action. Many of the civilians took their turns lifting litters to understand how heavy they actually are, and to see how long it might take to load and unload an aircraft like the C-130. "We couldn't have asked for a better weekend of training and the civilians left with an improved understanding of what we do, and how they can help during disasters," said Lt. Col. Mary Jo Abernethy. "It was great because we could share our experiences, so in the future we can all function as a team to assist the public in a time of need," said MSgt. Shane Cayson, aeromedical technician.

Commander of the 932nd Operations Group, Lt. Col. Ray Smith looks ahead to the last unit training assembly of fiscal year 2016. The wing also provides worldwide medical services to the warfighter from the front line to the continental United States fixed medical treatment facilities. Colonel Smith sent off a group of his 932nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron members on a deployment recently and continues to train others for future opportunities worldwide. A 932nd Airlift Wing aircrew member helps pull his Airman into the raft as 932nd Operations Group pilots and aeromedical evacuation personnel trained in the rain during their last Unit Training Assembly weekend. The event to develop proficiency during stress took place at the base pool to accomplish required water survival skills.
