A day to pause and repurpose

Senior Master Sgt. Laura Marshall listens to Lt. Col. Stephanie Boehning, process manager of the 932nd Airlift Wing, explains the intricacies of the unit's flea market repurposing program. Everyone in the 932 AW that was in the office was asked to stop work, mission permitting, and take time to clean out files, desk, and work area, sorting through stuff and eliminating what was not needed. Items that could be reused were redistributed and all left over materials were gathered by truck to be turned in on Thursday. This resulted in cleaner work areas through the wing. In the Air Force Continuous Process Improvement world, this is referred to as a 5S event because it involved doing the five S's -- Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
