Master Sgt. Donald Miller, 932nd Security Forces Squadron (SFS), retired after more than 23 years of service during a ceremony April 5, 2025, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

During the ceremony, Miller was presented the Meritorious Service Medal, by Maj. Tyler Freeman, 932nd SFS commander.

This award was presented to Miller for his dedicated and selfless leadership to the 932nd. One of Miller’s major achievements is he created a living document outlining the logistics of training missions, including everything from training hours, night shifts, and lodging.

“Instead of just figuring it out today, he (Miller) figured out a solution that will continue to endure long after we are all gone. We will always have this with us at the 932nd. Thank you for your leadership out there,” added Freeman.

Miller spoke to those in audience saying, “One last thank you to everybody in the 932nd Security Forces…thanks for putting up with me. Sometimes I had some pretty crazy ideas about how we should get firing done, or….Senior Master Sgt. (Cody) Peterson and I didn’t agree on the way something should be handled.  Thank you, it's been a pleasure."

At the ceremony’s midpoint, Miller received a gift from Chief Master Sgt. Robert Beabout, 932nd SFS senior enlisted leader (SEL), a custom wooden plaque. The plaque depicted the Saint Louis Arch, and has a quote that was chosen for Miller from Theodore Roosevelt.

The plaque read, “A good shot must necessarily be a good man since the essence of good marksmanship is self-control and self-control is the essential quality of a good man.”

“Everyone that comes through security forces here gets a plaque,” said Chief Master Sgt. Robert Beabout, 932d SFS SEL. “But each one gets a different quote from someone in history, and as a former CATM (Combat Arms Training and Maintenance) troop, we knew this would fit.”
