SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The 932nd Logistics Readiness Flight recently collaborated with the 375th Logistics Readiness Squadron and 375th Force Support Squadron to host Cardinal Strike (CS), a five day long event focusing on deployment readiness of Airmen and their equipment at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, June 4, 2025.
CS was facilitated by 932nd LRF, who provided necessary training to the 375th LRS and 375th FSS to improve their own skills at deployment readiness.
“I think that it’s very beneficial to have the Reserve unit helping out, in case they haven’t seen a Personnel Deployment Function line of this size before, “ said 2nd Lt. Tyler Griffith, 375th Force Support Squadron officer in charge. “I think that it's just a really good connection with each other so that we can build that relationship and then bolster training.”
Airmen preparing for deployment were separated into groups called ‘chalks,’ that went through a Personnel Deployment Function (PDF) line that ensures their family readiness, finances, equipment issue, and other personal requirements are ready for their deployments.
“To put it simply, we are the ones who enable the Wing to respond to the combatant commander’s request for assistance,” said Senior Master Sgt. Andrew Fairchild, 932nd Logistics Readiness Flight logistic plans superintendent.
On top of personnel management, CS also covers cargo preparation and weighing, so that Airmen have the tools they need to complete the mission.
“In this five day exercise, we were able to prepare 523 packs and approximately 70 short tonnes of cargo,” said Fairchild. “The 932nd uses the IPE (Individual Protective Equipment) warehouse for, like, 25 to 40 people. It’s the perfect set-up, and nobody from the 375th knew about the functionality of this building until we notified the 375th Force Support Squadron about it.”
The 932nd LRF inspired the use of the IPE warehouse for the Cardinal Strike training event.
“By the time COVID was over, nobody knew that the IPE warehouse was the proper place to have these exercises,” added Fairchild. “So Cardinal Strike is the first exercise back in here since COVID.”
The combined efforts of the 932nd LRF and 375th LRS and 375th FSS during this logistics readiness training event showcased our Airmen’s proficiency to execute the mission seamlessly.
