Scott Air Force Base, Ill. --

Employers of 932nd Airlift Wing members received a first-hand look at the overall mission of the Wing during Boss Day, April 1. Among other things, they were treated to controlled explosions by the Wing's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, its medical mission, as well as lunch on board one of the Wing's C-9Cs during a short flight around the St. Louis area.

Mary Herndon is sold on the 932nd Airlift Wing and the Air Force Reserve Command. She called her Bosse Day experience the "coolest thing!"

Herndon is civilian supervisor to Master Sgt. Butch Staples, who teaches special education at an elementary school.  He is a proud member of the 932nd Maintenance Squadron.

Employers heard briefings from 932nd Airlift Wing eadership and learned what the C-9C mission is about. Bosses also had the opportunity to tour the Scott air traffic control tower.

Other civilian bosses like Mike Oswalt were thrilled by the mission and the expertise of the men and women of the 932nd Airlift Wing.

"The C-9C flight has been a real treat. All the reservists are top-flight professionals that we've seen today," Oswalt said. Oswalt is supervisor to Tech. Sgt. Andrea Rotunno, who also is a dispatcher for Southeast Airlines. Sergeant Rotunno was one of the flight attendants who served bosses during the special orientation flight.

Mr. Oswalt added he has a better understanding of the sacrifices reservists like Sergeant Rotunno make for her country and employer.

"I'm impressed by the level of commitment Air Force Reservists make."
