APIC ALOHA PARTY- MAY 31

The Asian & Pacific Islander Committee (APIC) is hosting an Aloha Party at the Patriots Landing Community Center on May 31 from 3-6 p.m. Please join us in celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Bring your friends and family to join us for a FREE kickback afternoon full of fun, games, awesome food, and music. 

SHARK SWIM TEAM REGISTRATION
It’s time to start registering children/youth for the Scott Sharks Summer Swim Team. The cost is $100 per swimmer, which includes all practice and meet fees, t-shirt, and swim cap. SCOTT AFB CHAPEL RESILIENCY AND PAINTBALL EVENT – JUNE 1

Breakfast and an interactive resiliency session will be provided at 7:30 a.m. at the Scott AFB Chapel.  We will depart for paintball at 8:15 a.m. and return to the chapel at noon.   Any questions, contact 256-4060.

LEARN TO SWIM (LTS) – REGISTRATION NOW OPEN, STARTS JUNE 1
The LTS Program will begin enrollment for the 2019 Swim Lesson Sessions on June 1 from 8-11 a.m.  A registration form must be filled out for each swimmer.  Lesson fees: School Age & Adult $50, Preschool (4-5 yrs.) $35, Parent/Child (6-36 mo.) $35.  Lessons held Mon-Thurs (Fridays are makeup days).  Lessons may change due to weather and instructor availability at the time of sign up.  All sign-ups will be done at Outdoor Recreation from 8-11 a.m. on a first come, first serve basis. There are varying minimums and maximums for each level.  Call Outdoor Recreation at 256-2067 for more details.

SUMMER RUNNING CLINIC – STARTS JUNE 3

Summer Run Clinic is right around the corner. The clinic will “run” from June 3 – July 25. Members can choose between the morning session (7:15-8:15), or the afternoon session (3:15-4:15). This hands-on, eight week clinic is designed to help improve 1.5 mile run time.  Average improvement is 1:30 off aerobic component of fitness Assessment. The clinic meets Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and is open to all Active Duty, Air National Guard, & Reservists.  To sign up call the Health Promotion Clinic at 256-7139.

KEY SPOUSE APPRECIATION LUNCHEON – RSVPs DUE JUNE 5

This year’s Annual Key Spouse Appreciation Luncheon is June 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Scott Event Center. Come honor our Key Spouses and Key Spouse Mentors for their contributions to the stability and health of our military families with guest speaker, Mrs. Catherine Vandament. LANGUAGE ENABLED AIRMAN PROGRAM (LEAP) MEETING- JUNE 6

Do you currently speak or are you interested in learning a language? The Language Enabled Airman Program (LEAP) meeting is open to both officers and enlisted. If you’re ready to grow exponentially, hone your skills, get the opportunity to travel, and put extra money in your pocket, join us on June 6 at 3 p.m. at the Scott Event Center Heritage Room. AFSA GATEWAY CHAPTER 872 FIRST ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT – JUNE 7
Enjoy a day of special events June 7, starting at 8 a.m. 18 holes of golf (including cart) and lunch. There will be door prize drawings and a raffle. This four-person scramble is $55 per player or $45 for AGF members and E-1 through E-4. The event is open to the first 144 golfers or 36 teams. 

BABY SAFETY 101 – REGISTER BY JUNE 7

The New Parent Support Program and Pregnancy Care Center will offer a Baby Safety 101 class on June 18 from noon-2 p.m., in the Scott Clinic’s Deltgen Auditorium. Topics will include safe sleep and car seat safety. Registrants must be at least 30 weeks pregnant, and must complete an Assessment Tool and Pre-Test to confirm registration. Seating is limited. Please call 256-7203 by June 7 to register or for more information.

 

CHAPTER OF AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MILITARY COMPTROLLERS GOLF TOURNAMENT – JUNE 13

The Land of Lincoln (LoL) Chapter of American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) is hosting a Golf Tournament on June 13.   All proceeds from the golf tournament will go towards the LoL Chapter fund raising activities.  The golf tournament will be held at Cardinal Creek Golf Course and is a 4 person scramble with a cost of $55 per person/$220 per team and includes a round of golf, cart, prizes, and lunch. The start time for registration and lunch is 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12 p.m. 

BASE WIDE POWERLIFTING MEET – AUGUST 17 (START PREPARING NOW!)

Anyone interested in powerlifting with access to the James Gym is welcome to register. It is a free powerlifting meet on base and will take place on August 17 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. We are getting the word out 4 months in advance to allow people to start preparing now. More information will be released as we get closer to the event.

AIR FORCE BALL FUNDRAISING EVENT, WORLD WIDE TECHNOLOGY RACEWAY – SIGN UP BY MAY 30

The Air Force Ball Committee is looking for 30 volunteers to support the NASCAR Truck Series Event on June 22 at the World Wide Technology Raceway.  There will be two volunteers shifts from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
