SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. --
During the March unit training assembly, the 932nd Airlift Wing combined two Assumption of Command ceremonies, with a promotion, to showcase the newest Citizen Airmen taking the reins of the 932nd Medical Group and 932nd Medical Squadron.
Col. Michael Cruff, commander, 932nd AW presented Col. Christopher Matlack the guidon for the 932nd Medical Group for the first Assumption of Command.
Matlack left his former position as the special assistant to A3 Director Aeromedical Evacuation, Headquarters, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. A former commander for 445th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, this is Matlack’s first command at the Group level.
Between the two AOC ceremonies was a promotion ceremony for Lt. Col. Christopher Spinelli to full colonel. The newly promoted colonel was joined by his family to assist with pinning on the new rank. With the silver eagle on his shoulder, Spinelli was prepared to take command during the second AOC of the day.
During the second AOC ceremony, it was Matlack’s turn to hand over leadership, and the 932nd Medical Squadron guidon to newly promoted Col. Christopher Spinelli.
Spinelli, a first time commander, moves from his former position with the 932nd MDS as a pediatrician/flight surgeon and into his new role as the 932nd MDS commander.
